About Darcy

darcy-lawton-lcsw-2016-headshot2-mcu-300dpi-5x7Darcy Lawton, LCSW – Darcy is a caring and understanding NYC therapist in Battery Park City.  She tailors her practice to best serve the goals and pursuits of her clients.  She draws from a wealth of knowledge and experience, having worked closely with individuals and families in a variety of settings, such as private practices, outpatient mental health clinics, addiction treatment centers, hospitals, schools, and community-based organizations.  In a previously held position at a long standing outpatient mental health clinic, she held the role of Clinical Supervisor, and guided and provided support to her clients and team of colleagues.

Darcy is a former professional ballet dancer, and has danced with the Eglevsky Ballet on Long Island, NY.  She has also appeared onstage in freelance engagements with artists from the world-renowned American Ballet Theatre.  Darcy maintains an avid appreciation for the arts, and continues dancing as an enjoyable enhancement to her life.  She currently serves as an independent consultant to the American Ballet Theatre JKO School, providing support and guidance to advanced and pre-professional ballet students.

As a native New Yorker currently working and residing in Manhattan, Darcy understands the pressures, challenges, and stress that city life can bring.  She employs her ability to connect and relate to others in her practice with keen and caring sensitivity.  She finds that establishing rapport with her clients at a core human level sets the foundation for exploration, growth, and change to emerge.  Darcy also enjoys working with motivated clients who want to develop insight and awareness, and is adept at helping her clients identify and practice healthier coping skills.  She incorporates elements from her training, education, and practice to help guide you in a healthy, positive direction.  She currently practices within the Brookfield Place center in Battery Park City.

Darcy is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, and is registered as a licensed professional with the New York State Education Department’s Office of the Professions.  She received her Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University’s College at Lincoln Center, with a dual focus in Sociology and Psychology. Darcy has a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from New York University.
